Colour Your World - Gloria Loughman

Gloria lives in Victoria Australia and is an internationally  renowned award winning landscape artist, instructor and author. Her underlying passion in all her work is colour and an ongoing challenge to capture light in her work.  Don't miss this opportunity to meet her and hear her newest lecture that she will present for the first time in Canada. Long Arm Quilting with Liz Thompson

Thursday June 7 - 7 pm - Haus of Stitches

Whether you are interested in Long arm quilting on a frame or a sit down machine, Liz has a vast knowledge of quilting and an abundance of tips and tricks and tricks to help you get started to perfect you skills. This session is for anyone who already one of these machines or are interested in purchasing one.  It is a great opportunity to try one out and see which one you might like best. 

 

Why we do what we do - Sally Melville

Friday June 8, 7 pm

 This presentation speaks to what knitting (or other handwork) offers - from alleviating boredom to increasing health in unexpected was, then through teaching skills that help us through all aspects of life.  Participants will see examples of knitting (although this talk applies to all handwork) while thinking about this work through lens as diverse as psychology, biology and global economics.

Tours of St. Peter’s Abbey

St. Peter’s Abbey is the oldest Benedictine Monastery in Canada founded in 1903. Father Demetrius will lead an informative tour of the Abbey daily at 4:30pm.  Please sign up at the store located in Lower Severin Hall if you are interested.

 Tours of Assumption Church

Rebuilt in 1920 – 21, after a cyclone destroyed the original church during construction, this large country church is decorated with paintings of celebrated German artist Berthold Imhoff.  Tours will be organized as required.

 

Store Hours:

Haus of Stitches in Humboldt will be open regular hours throughout the conference.

Monday – Sat 9 am – 6 pm and Thursday 9 am – 9 pm. If you need to visit the store outside these hours please contact one of the staff at 1-306-682-0772 or 1-800-344-6024.

On site we will have a store set up in the Lower Serverin Hall stocked with supplies related to classes being held.  This store will be open daily from 8 am – 9 pm.
